Creating vector art for Codex Silenda mechanical books.
I was commissioned to create the designs for a series of Mechanical Puzzle books – The Codex Silenda Mechanical Puzzles.
The wood pieces of the book were cut by sophisticated computer cutters and then the final pieces were constructed and decorated by hand. My role was to create the vector illustrations that the system would use to cut the wooden pieces.
Five books were created (the themes were – Norse, Necro, DaVinci, Mayan and Egyptian) with a total of seven pages per book – each book required a design that was inspired by the mythology and historical style of the theme.
